Hoka One One’s Clifton Edge’s style isn’t for everyone but they are my most stylish women’s running shoes 2020.
You might call me crazy by suggesting this, especially with one running review site suggesting that there was “uncertainty around the aesthetic” and “runners were put off by look”. The shoe does have an unusual tail but don’t be put off. If you like to set trends and stand out from other runners then these shoes tick that box! Plus there is the added benefit that they perform amazingly as a Running Shoe!

Hoka One One is a shoe company that originated in France by Nicolas Mermoud & Jean-Luc.

How do the Clifton Edges Perform as a Running Shoe?
Hoka One One market this shoe as a “Smooth Cushion Running Shoe”. After testing the shoe on two runs prior to writing this review, show did feel both smooth and cushioned. When comparing the shoe to the standard Clifton it felt bouncy and faster.
Here is a quick summary of the shoe specifications;
- Neutral running shoe.
- Shoe designed to facilitate a quick landing to toe off.
- Mid-sole longer than the shoe – extension on back to form a tail. This is to give earlier ground contact and in turn speed up your gate cycles and cadence.
- Uncertainty around the aesthetic.
- Runners put off by look.
- Clifton edge is wider than other narrower HOKA ONE ONE models like the Rincon.
- True to size? Yes – same size as in Nike Pegasus (Size 5 UK/EUR 38 for me) .
- Shoe is snappy and makes you feel like you’re running more upright.
- The shoe makes down hills faster and helps reduce impact at the same time.
Is this Stylish Women’s Running Shoe worth investing in?
Yes. The shoe fits well due to its wider fit (than other narrower Hoka One One models like the Rincon). If you like being different the Clifton Edges could be your shoe. They perform just as well as Asics but have a more modern look.
